Optometry is a health profession that is autonomous educated and regulated (Licenced / Registered) system. Optometrists are the primary health care practitioners of eye and visual system who provides comprehensive eye care which includes refraction, dispencing, diagnosis and management of diesease of eye and the rehabilitation of condition of the visual system.

Optometry is the art and science of eye and vision care. Occupational titles defines an optometrist as a professional who examines eye to determine visual efficiency and performance by means of opthalmic and optometric instrumentation and observation and prescribes correctives measures for defective vision. Optometry is a completely separate science based on physics. It is taught world-wide as a separate, independent professional course and practiced within a legal framework similar to the practice of Dentistry in U. K., U.S.A., Germany, Australia, Japan and many other countries.

In the area of increasing specialization, the qualified optometrists by virtue of their exclusive and intensive scientific training in the art and science of optometry should be right type of persons to serve as specialists vision care professionals and consultant.
